Apr 2011 20

Welcome to the wonderful world of Muntu Valdo, Cameroon’s answer to Phil Collins according to the Financial Times. Now for those who do not know that Good Music Travels Fast, Muntu has been playing the guitar since the age of eight when he picked up a friend’s two string made from plasterboard and fishing wire but has since evolved into a veritable one man band, using loops, delays, and effects in perfect harmony with his voice and harmonica. The videos below demonstrate Muntu’s eclectic talents as he launched his new album “The One & The Many” at an amazing show in Hoxton on Monday night.

Muntu is about to embark on a thirty date UK tour supporting Lady Black Mombazo and you can get your tickets here. Check after the jump to see Muntu playing with a full band live on stage!

There is not a lot you can say about Wiley that has not already been said. Having been big in the game since the late nineties Wiley’s influence on the UK scene is undeniable. Starting out as a DJ before becoming legendary as an MC and producer Wiley has always put his love of music first and refused to compromise on his artistic vision, as evident by his release of the Zip files in July of last year where he literally gave away over 200 tracks of old and new music! In fact Wiley has always been a pioneer for expression,  whilst being prepared to beef with all those willing to test their skills, the number of artists that he has helped out or has worked with is immense. The song below is entitled “Numbers in Action” and is from Wiley’s forthcoming Big Dada project. The track is out now on iTunes!

Wiley’s willingness to collaborate was again evident on his recent Elusive Tour at the O2 in Islington!

Check after the jump for footage of a host of MCs hitting the stage, including Ghetts, Jammer, JME and Skepta!!

Check out this link for a review of the album cut entitled We are the Future (which now also includes a free download):  http://aspecks.com/blog/commentary/africas-fokn-future/

Aspecks recently provided you with a sneak peak of the productive summer that the FOKN Bois spent in Budapest when we posted about Africa’s FOKN Future. Consequently we had raised expectations for the release of the full mix and of course, despite being busy working on their various solo projects, the FOKN Bois (M3NSA and Wanlov The Kubolor) do not disappoint in the slightest. Hosted by the Irie Maffia Production duo (ELO and Jumo Daddy), the Dunaquest minimix combines their eclectic fusion of hip-hop, funk, reggae and European dance beats with the reflective and optimistic humour of the FOKN Bois’ verbal dexterity to magnificent effect. But don’t just take our word for it as you can listen to the results of their endeavours below.

FOKN Bois meet Irie Maffia Prod.-FOKN Dunaquest Minimix by Irie Maffia

Officially released on Akwaaba/Irie Maffia Productions on the 26th April 2011.
